Shahrukh Khan Bio

BIOGRAPHY of Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan was born on November 2, 1965, in New Delhi. Raised in a suburban middle-class Muslim family, he studied economics and communication while playing in a small theatre company. At twenty, he is only a beginner among others and mainly plays supporting roles, but the teaching of his director influences the actor.

He draws an important lesson, decisive if we judge by the future success of the star: “There is no right or wrong way to act a scene. The Method is what works for you. The ultimate barometer is what people love.” On the advice of his teacher who sees in his qualities an ideal game for the cinema, he embarks on a career to which he does not aspire yet.

At the end of the 80s, he began with figuration and obtained increasingly important roles. Thus, it is in series that he knows his first real appearances and acquires the premises of recognition. His expressive playing, and which will make him famous, is established and the confidence of an emerging popular success, encourages him to launch an assault on Bollywood to take a new step.

At the same time, his personal life is undergoing serious upheavals. He loses his two parents ten years apart and meets the one who will become his wife a few years later, after having faced six years during the adversity of the Hindu parents of the young woman who refuse the idea of a marriage with a Muslim.

His entry into the capital of Indian cinema was made easier for him by meeting Vivek Vaswani, whose knowledge of the rather closed environment of Bollywood enabled the promising “provincial” to gain time in conquering major roles.

Quickly blending into the continuous production of films that are the hallmark of Indian cinema, he began by participating simultaneously in four films including Deewanawhich offered him a draft of critical success, since it enabled him to obtain the Best Male Actor at the Filmfare Awards in 1993.

He quickly got caught up in the game of intensive filming and therefore contributed to an average of four films per year, a pace that he will maintain. In 1993, his notable participation is called Baazigar and Darr in which he plays two similar roles of “anti-hero”, thus takes a new step and wins his first Prize for Best Actor.

Her collaboration with two of the most influential producers, Aditya and Yash Chopra, and her roles alongside actress Kajol, with whom he forms one of the most popular couples on the screen, definitely change his status: Shahrukh khan film actor becomes King Khan.

The actor now has a series of films ( Maya memsaab from a short story by Flaubert, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, or even Yes Boss ) and the rewards that go with it. By taking care to alternate registers, it allows its popularity to develop.

This is how he will gladly pass charmer characters from romantic comedies that ensure his local notoriety ( Dil To Pagal Hai in 1997 or Kuch Kuch Hota Hai the thanks to which he obtained an award in Berlin in 1998), his idea being to spread his popularity throughout the world.

After experiencing relative disappointments in the early 2000s, notably due to the emergence of a rival in his register (actor Hrithik Roshan ) and the failure of the first film produced by his brand new production company.

he relaunched in 2001 in a blockbuster aimed at the whole world, The Indian Family, an international success that heralds the new wave of Indian cinema.

Its involvement in the export and recognition of Bollywood cinema outside Indian borders is decisive. On the poster of Devdas, he trains with Aishwarya Raia couple with ideal glamour potential for Western minds.

This success is also explained by the selection of the film at Cannes in 2002 where we want to highlight this new genre which brilliantly combines the splendour of the sets and choreographies specific to Bollywood, with a story less schematic than the usual standards.

A fine connoisseur of communication and its profitability, Shah Rukh Khan is the first actor to embark on advertising, enhancing his image and thus once again allowing Indian cinema to enter a new era.

Aware of his failures, he decided to end production in 2003 after three films (including Chalte Chalte and Asoka) and then tries the experience of a spectacular world tour, based on the choreographies that made him famous.

With his international recognition established, he asserts himself in this direction and more and more regularly chooses films with a global outlook.

Among these, Swades or New York masala, both released in 2005 in France, testify to the actor’s new bias to choose roles against the job (and which work better for export) as in Om Shanti Om or Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

His choices for the following roles are in line with his evolution towards a less conformist repertoire: he interprets some situations of “counter-jobs”, and affirms his desire for recognition with My Name Is Khan, which takes place in the United States and is distributed worldwide.
